William Sonsma – Founder & CEO
William is an accomplished finance professional with a proven track record in debt financing. With over two decades of experience, he has successfully founded and managed four private debt financing platforms since 2005, demonstrating his commitment and expertise. His first ventures involved personal funds and investments from friends and family, followed by a line of credit with over $400 million originated and serviced. Subsequently, William launched a Reg D Debt Fund, overseeing more than 200 loans totaling over $400 million without any losses to investor capital.
In 2005, William established Sterk Investments as a Direct Lender, specializing in Bridge Loans for Multifamily, Commercial, and Single-Family properties. Under his leadership, Sterk exceeded $400 million in volume and 400 transactions, focusing on small balance loans with impressive metrics. Prior to
this, he founded Fidelity Bancorp Funding (Fidelity) in 2000, brokering loans across the United States, with volumes some years exceeding $1 billion and totaling over $10 billion in his tenure. Fidelity successfully closed over 10,000 loans during this period.
William also co-founded Fidelity Bridge Loans, a Reg D Debt Fund similar to Sterk Investments, managing over $400 million in volume and 200 transactions with no defaults. Serving as Principal, Director, acting CEO, and CFO at Fidelity, William oversaw the funding of loans using investor capital and a line of credit
before selling his interest in March 2023.
Before his entrepreneurial ventures, William worked as a CPA with Price Waterhouse and held financial leadership roles at Carnation Company and Ross Swiss. During periods of divestiture from Fidelity, he served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of CRE at EverBank and Managing Director at
Wholesale Capital Corporation while continuing to fund Sterk Bridge loans from personal capital. William holds a B.S. in Accounting from California State University, Northridge, and is actively involved with various charitable organizations focused on education, homelessness, foster-to-adopt programs, safe families, Pakistan Brick Slave Rescue, support for single mothers, and more.
